Karkala, Dec 30: After the BJP government came to power, new mining licences have not been issued and old licences have also not been renewed in an effort to protect the mines in the state, said chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, speaking at a press conference held at Agricultural Producers’ Sales Committee, on Sunday December 28.

The previous government did not have firm values regarding the export of mines. But, from the past seven months, perfect decisions have been taken by the present government, he said.

The government has asked for an NSG unit for Bangalore after the recent terrorist attacks in Mumbai. This will be discussed in the meeting called by Dr V S Acharya, state home minister, on Tuesday January 6, said Yeddyurappa.

Dr Acharya, Captain Ganesh Karnik, member, Vidhan Parishat, Nakre Antony D’Souza, president, APMC, Karkala, B Nagraj Shetty, chairman, Adminstrative Reforms Commission, and Kota Srinivas Poojary, member, Vidhan Parishat, were present at the press conference.
