Iran could have defeated Vietnam with more goals, says Queiroz

Tehran, Jan 13 (IANS): Iran national football team's head coach Carlos Queiroz said they could have defeated Vietnam with more goals.

Iran beat Vietnam 2-0 in Group D on Saturday and booked a spot in the ongoing AFC Asian Cup, Round of 16.

"We could have scored more than two goals but our players wasted their chances. Vietnam had just one shot on target in the second half. Statistics speak for themselves," Queiroz said on Sunday, reports Xinhua news agency.

"We will prepare for Iraq match from Sunday. We concentrate on Iraq match from now on," he went on to say.

Queiroz also praised Iran's best scorer Sardar Azmoun at the end of the news conference. Iran last won the Cup in 1976 and they are looking forward to end their 43-year trophy drought in the UAE.
