Mangaluru: Two ladies caught smuggling gold in innerwear at airport

Mangaluru, Jan 18: Officers of customs at Mangaluru International Airport on Thursday, January 17 busted another modus operandi of gold smuggling and seized foreign origin gold 24KT (in paste form), weighing 314 grams net totally valued at Rs 10,16,000, in two separate cases.

In the first case, the officers seized gold in the form of paste weighing 140 gms net and valued at Rs 4.53 lac concealed in innerwear from the possession of a lady passenger. In the second case, gold was seized by officials, again in form of paste weighing 174 gms net and valued Rs 5.63 lac from another lady passenger being smuggled in a similar way.

Both the passengers arrived at Mangaluru International Airport from Dubai by Air India Exp IX814 on January 17.
