Mangaluru, Jan 23: St Ann’s College of Education, a premier institution in teacher education, formally inaugurated the BEd course for the year 2018-2020, on Wednesday, January 23. Sr Maria Kripa, joint secretary and superior St Ann’s Convent was the president of the programme and Prof Udaya Kumar, retired professor, SDM Law College was the chief guest.
The programme began with the prayer dance followed by welcoming the guests through the dance. On this memorable day, the student cabinet took oath promising their loyalty towards the institution and be the responsible stewards in discharging their duties. On this joyous day the students of I BEd showcased their talents through a cultural programme. An educative programme regarding safety of Girls was depicted through the mime and value based short skit. Student teachers set the stage on fire with their glittery costumes by presenting a retro - metro dance with magnificence and colour to a medley of foot tapping Bollywood numbers.
The president of the programme Sr Maria Kripa, joint secretary and superior St Ann’s Convent, while addressing the students and wishing them good for the new academic year, she exhorted them to be the light enlightening the path of students who will be under their care.
Chief guest Prof Udaya Kumar addressed the teacher trainees regarding the noble profession of teaching. Appreciating the students for choosing noble profession of teaching, he highlighted the strategies to be an effective teacher and above all to be better human beings. He asked the students to be a living example all through their life.
Principal Dr Sr Clare and the staff were present on the occasion. Nikitha Heleena compered the programme and Gladys Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks. Sr Dorothy D’ Souza coordinated the programme.
