New Delhi, Jan 25: Allen Rajesh Vas, working as senior intelligence officer, Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax Intelligence (DGGI) in Mangaluru Regional Unit was awarded with the prestigious ‘Presidential award of appreciation for specially distinguished record of service’ on the occasion of Republic day, 2018.
The award was conferred to him on January 25 by Finance Minister Piyush Goyal during the investiture ceremony and international customs day held at New Delhi.
In 23 years of distinguished service in Central Excise, Service Tax and Customs and Directorate of GST Intelligence, with his high acumen and exceptional caliber, Allen was successful in unearthing tax/duty evasion of Rs 4070.41 lac with recovery of tax amounting to Rs 3012.02 lac. He has also played pivotal role in detecting and investigating 102 cases of evasion involving central excise duty/ service tax amounting to Rs 10070.01 lac with recovery of Rs 3103.29 lac.
The officer with his high acumen has detected and investigated high profile tax evasion cases spread all over India.
Allen’s ardent commitment towards his duty, untiring zeal and consistently high level of performance in every sphere of work characterised by the qualities of intellect and professional competence has earned him the prestigious ‘Presidential award of appreciation for specially distinguished record of service.’
