Mangaluru, Jan 26: St Aloysius Gonzaga School celebrated its 70th Republic Day at the school ground on January 26.
The students took pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of unity and fraternity.
The programme commenced with a prayer song by the school choir. The Indian National flag was unfurled by the chief guest Joe Gonsalves, chief traffic warden along with the principal Academics Grace Noronha followed by the National Anthem.
The chief guest, a dynamic and versatile personality of the day, alumnus of St Aloysius Institution gave a strong message to the students to be responsible citizens of the country.
The students of class 9 presented a patriotic song which instilled the fervour of nationalism followed by a small skit by class VII students on gender sensitivity.
Students of class 3 and 4 performed a dance on a beautiful patriotic song.
The principal Grace Noronha in her presidential address emphasised the ideals of the Indian constitution, reminding them of its articles with regard to justice, liberty, equality, fraternity and dignity of each individual.
The cultural programme was held in the Gonzaga Hall. Saniya Bekal of class 9 welcomed the gathering. The significance of the day was presented by Samrudhi Salian of class 8.
The students who won various cultural and literary competitions held during the month were felicitated by the chief guest and the principal. Sweedal Bonita of class 9 proposed the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with the school anthem. Joshua and Amirah of class VII anchored the programme.
