Mangaluru: Celebration over release of 100 Tulu films inaugurated at Nehru Maidan

Mangaluru, Jan 27: Karavali Group of Institutions founder S Ganesh Rao inaugurated the celebration of the release of a hundred Tulu films here at Nehru Maidan on Sunday, January 27, under the aegis of Coastalwood Artistes and Technicians Association.

Speaking on the occasion S Ganesh Rao said, "I congratulate all of the Tulu film fraternity on release of 100 films in Tulu. There is challenge now that after 100 movies, the quality matters to the audience. So far 100 producers and directors have directed the films but there might be few lapses here and there, but all should forget it and think about the future on how to give qualitative movies to the audience.”

"Programmes should be organised in educational institutions, because it will be easy way to reach out to the people and convey the importance of Tulu films,” said Ganesh Rao.

District-in-charge minister U T Khader said, "When Coastalwood delegations met chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, he was disappointed that there was no demand coming from Coastalwood with regard to the development. Coastalwood should come together and keep forth their demands that are required for the development of film industry and I assure these demands will be fulfilled in every possible way.”

He also said, "Increase in the subsidy of regional films, forming Tulu Film Institute will happen in the coming days. Tulu film industry has grown to high level and made revolutionary changes by displaying various culture and traditions of the coastal region. After the formal function, directors, producers, actors who received national and state awards will be felicitated. Discussion will be held on development of Tulu industry, quiz programmes on Tulu films to the students, felicitation programmes, Tulu orchestra, cultural events, comedy programmes will be organised.”

Sandalwood stars Puneet Rajkumar, Darshan, Yash, Yogish, Suman Talwar, Ravi Basrur, Tarun Sudheer, Gurukiran, Manikanth Kadri, Sachin Suvarna, Rachita Ram, Amoolya, Deeksha Poovayya, Sonu Gowda, Manvitha Harish, Kavya, Akhila Pajimannu, Navin Padil, Devdas Kapikad, Arvind Bolar, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor and others are expected to take part in the celebration.

Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy will be part of valedictory ceremony. Producer Kadandale Suresh Bhandary will preside over the function. District-in-charge minister U T Khader, Union minister D V Sadananda Gowda, MP Veerappa Moily, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Udupi district-in-charge minister Dr Jayamala, MP Shobha Karandlaje, MLA Vedvyas Kamath and others will be guests of honour.

President of Tulu Sahitya Academy A C Bhandary, president of Kannada Sahithya Parishat Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, director Richard Castelino, corporator Diwakar Pandeshwara, Producer Prakash Pandeshwar, president of Coastalwood Artistes and Technicians Association Kishore D Shetty, producer Pammi Kodialbail, founder CATCA Harish Kodpady and others were present.
