Mangaluru, Jan 28: The two-day Bondel Fiesta with music, dance and fun at Bondel Church ground on Sunday, January 27 culminated on high note. Large number of people visited the venue and enjoyed.

Ivan D’Souza, MLC and parliamentary secretary and Walter Nandalike, founder, Daijiworld Media Group, graced the valedictory ceremony as chief guests.

Appreciating the new concept at Bondel Church, Ivan said, “I can see an ocean of people here who came to shop, dine and witness the extravaganza. This is the achievement of Bondel parishioners. These types of events give us opportunity to come together and make us familiar with one another. So it should continue every year.”

Congratulating the organising committee, Walter Nandalike said, “The success of the event shows the organising capacity of Fr Andrew D’Souza, the parish priest of Bondel Church. Being a person of unique ideas and challenging attitude, he can do many wonders here at Bondel. He needs the support of people. Today, the people of Bondel and its surroundings have come here to experience this unique event. I congratulate the entire organising committee over the success of the event and hope that this event will continue in the coming years also.”

Fr Andrew D’Souza, in his address, said, “Bondel Fiesta has received tremendous response from the parishioners and people of Mangaluru. I thank all who became a part of this event .They made this event a memorable one. We organised this event to collect funds for various developmental projects in the parish and mainly to repay the bank loan taken to construct our new school building. Knowing this, people of Mangaluru have supported us whole heartedly. This is the satisfactory thing. Once again, I thank all for your kind support and encouragement.”

Fr Cyril Lobo, assistant parish priest, Fr Clifford Pinto, principal, St Lawrence English Medium School, Sujay D’Silva, coordinator, Bondel Fiesta, Henbert Pinto, and Francis Veigas, vice-president and secretary of parish council respectively and Shanthi Priya Lasrado, were present among others.

As a part of the event, various culture programmes were held by members of ICYM and YCS.

The event enthralled the audience with various food and mocktail stalls, along with a variety of games.

Exciting spot prizes and lucky draws were held during the event. Nonstop music from well-known DJ Acvin was another attraction.

Automobile and various other corporate companies also installed their stalls in the fiesta with exclusive information of their products.

I have waded through the Saturday evening throng at the Bondel church grounds and was highly impressed by the excellent organisation. I almost lost my visiting daughter-in-law and grand-daughter from Mumbai in the teeming throng.
Then, today I viewed the generous coverage of this Fiesta by Daiji.
