Mangaluru: Tree branch falls on bus at Hampankatta, one injured

Mangaluru, Jan 28: The branch of tree fell on the bus at Hampankatta here on Monday, January 28 and one person sustained injuries.

As per details available, the branch fell suddenly on the bus. The person injured was waiting for the bus. If the bus was not there, it would have injured more people who were waiting for bus, said eyewitnesses.

The incident happened at the bus stop opposite Wenlock Hospital. 



Fire Brigade personnel and police visited the spot.

    Usually it is the job of city corporations to see that security of passengers ,buses and travel dept to secure.Have to inspect trees ,or wires to check to avoid such mischaps.There are enough people to do this .shouldnt they give reports to muncipality from time to time?Now catchhold of them .during rainy seasons to check up wires over trees or buildings to cut,.yes muncipality is sleeping .Poor people are suffering.

    My bus was late by half an hour! Many people were waiting for buses at the bus stands and buses were taking alternate routes skipping many stops in between.

    Where are the so called environment activists. It is not only planting of trees but trimming, removal of dangerous branches, etc that has to be looked after.

    That is reason I believe most of the City bus drivers stop the BUS at middle of the road to alight and get the passengers even though there are designated places for the same.

    Atleast now the nantoor bus stop is being repaired and the pavement is being made out of concrete. Till now everyone was facing problems especially in the monsoons. The steps of the busses first of all are so high and to get down, a person doesn't know which to get down on potholes or big stones. During the monsoons it looked like a temporary creek without fish but with footwear of the old, children and so on floating away in the water. The city corporation has woken up and started some good work. Thanks to the concerned authorities

    Isn't there a way to survey or check the condition of some old trees and the overlapping branches especially over the bust stops and where people normaly gather to catch Citi buses? Some precaution could be exercised to avoid major mishap in the future.

    Worst city Corporation. No maintenance. God alone know who selected as Smart city. Even though M/s Antony is trying to keep our city, still Our Ramakrishna mutt young boys and girls are trying their best to keep our city clean. The question is how that much garbage our Ramakrishna mutt volunteers get. What our MCC sleepers are doing. Commissioner and DC must take round daily and check. They are all busy in one or other festivals.
