Udupi: Three-day 'Alupotsava -2019' fest has glorious conclusion

Barkur, Jan 28: The three day Alupotsava -2019 concluded with traditional folk and cultural events on Sunday, January 27 at Nandarayana fort in Barkur.

District-in-charge minister Dr Jayamala lauded the efforts of many departments, who made the event a grand success. “There is an effort of many people who helped each other on and off screen. All have worked together for three days. I am just a witness. I would like to thank and congratulate them for this historical moment and for making it possible. Hundreds of people have dreamt on this historical place. I hope and wish that all dreams will come true soon. There is positive energy at Barkur and there is strong existence of God. It will continue as earlier. Let us encourage art and culture. Udupi is a city of temples. Let this happen on a large scale in days to come.”

Dr Jagadish Shetty, lecturer of PPC College Udupi was honoured with 'Alupa Shri' award for his service.

Priyanka Mary Francis, deputy commissioner of Udupi, Vidya Kumari, additional deputy commissioner, Manohar Shetty, proprietor of Sai Radha developers, Anitha Bhaskar, assistant director of Tourism department, Prakash Shetty, panchayat president and others were present.



Thousands of people witnessed the three day of Alupotsava.

Artists of Chakra phonics enthralled the audience with western and classical music, flute and drums. The team was led by popular keyboard playlist Praveen D Rao along with team Varija Shri Venogopal on flute, Pramath Kiran and Rohith Shetty.

A Koraga community team 'Koraga Sangeetha Navinya' created magic with the traditional dolu (drum).

Ghal- Jal, a music team stole the hearts of the audience with their soulful rendering.

A dance skit was performed by the professional artists.

Yaksha- Gana- Vaibhava Jugalbandi performance was led by Raghavendra Zansale on another platform.

Kalinga Rao Foundation held music concert. The glorious history of Tulunadu was depicted in the three days of Alupotsava.

    Well organized colorful event. Because of Alupotsava and other ongoing cultural programs, Barkur is back to it's ancient glory. Tulu language must be included in Eighth Schedule...
