Free education for government college girls in Rajasthan

Ajmer, Jan 30 (IANS): Free education will be provided to girls in state-run institutions in Rajasthan from July, Higher Education Minister Bhanwar Singh Bhati said on Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference, he said: "Girls studying in government colleges will be provided free education from the next academic session which starts in July. Also, the female students in colleges will be given sanitary napkins free of cost."

Bhati also said that there will be investigation into the recruitments made by the former BJP government in Rajasthan.

"The BJP government started colleges with poor infrastructure. We will ensure that adequate arrangements are made in these colleges," he added.

The Women’s Reservation Bill [The Constitution (108th Amendment) Bill] is one of the longest pending legislation in the Indian Parliament. The Bill seeks to reserve 33.33 % seats in the Lok Sabha or the Lower House of Indian Parliament and in the State Legislative Assemblies for women, in accordance with the 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendments which reserved the same percentage of seats for women in rural and urban local bodies respectively. The Bill has been introduced in the Indian Parliament several times since its initial launch in 1996, but however, the status of the bill remains undecided primarily due to lack of political consensus.
The center Prime Minister Modi government which promised women's empowerment stalled the same bill and kept in hanging for five years only gave priority to Triple Talaq bill.
The previous BJP government under Vasundhara Raje government which formed 'cow minister' never bother to care for women of Rajasthan while his own minister busy counting used condoms, cigarette butt and empty liquor bottles outside JNU campus.
I appreciate the newly elected Congress government initiative for the women of India with Free education.
I request the Congress government to speed up the process of outlawing 'Gau Rakshaks' who gave a bad name to Rajasthan through lynching and controls the small ports which export the livestock to the Middle East.
