Aligarh, Jan 31 (IT): A case was registered against 12 people and two were detained after Hindu Mahasabha members re-enacted Nathuram Godse's assassination of Mahatma Gandhi yesterday.
They fired at an effigy of Mahatma Gandhi with an air pistol.
Aligarh ASP Neeraj Jadon said, "Members of Hindu Mahasabha yesterday enacted Nathuram Godse's assassination of MahatmaGandhi. They were glorifying Nathuram Godse."
He said a case was registered against 12 people, including four unidentified people, and that arrests would be made soon.
Two people were detained, he said.
On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's death anniversary, members of the Hindu Mahasabha celebrated Martyr's Day by glorifying Nathuram Godse who assassinated Gandhi on January 30, 1948.
Hindu Mahasabha National Secretary Shakun Pandey shot at an effigy of Mahatma Gandhi on Wednesday in the Naurangabad locality of Aligarh.
Later, a video of the incident went viral on social media.
No arrests have been made so far.
