Kasargod, Feb 4: Badiyadka police have confirmed that the death of Sundar Naika (55), son of Aithappa, a resident of Padre Kuntikana, Aralikatte of Perla near here is a murder as per the prima facie evidences that the police have gathered.
Police have taken Jayant, son of the deceased, Eshwara Naika, brother of the deceased and Prabhakar, son of Eshwara Naika into custody for further investigation. It is learnt that there are more people involved in this crime and police are taking necessary steps to apprehend them.
As per the details available, when Jayant, son of Sundar Naika, arrived home at around 9.30 pm on January 30, Sundar Naika was involved in a verbal spat with others at home. When Jayant questioned the issue, heated arguments developed and led to scuffle. Sundar Naika received severe injury to his head. He was taken to Perla hospital immediately. It is learnt that the doctors of Perla hospital suggested taking Sundar to hospitals in Mangaluru or Kasargod. The police collected statement in this regard from the doctor of the Perla hospital.
Police who went to the house of Sundar Naika found evidence of fight and also stains of blood. Cow dung was applied on the spots were blood stains were there to cover up the crime. Police are guarding the house now as part of the investigation. Forensic experts will conduct examination of the house.
Narayan Naika, resident of Maniyampare and brother of the deceased Sundar Naika had given a complaint in this regard to SP. When the police intensified the investigation after receiving the complaint, the murder has come to light.
Though the doctors at Perla hospital advised to take Sundar Naika to hospitals in Kasargod and Mangaluru for higher treatment, the family members took him back to home. The body of Sundar Naika was cremated early morning on the next day, using an iron coffin that is used to burn the dead. However, it is said that, the real brother and other relatives of Sundar Naika were not informed about the death and cremation of Sundar Naika.
