New Delhi, Feb 4 (India Today): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said that the grand alliance or the mahagathbandhan between the Opposition parties was divided by region and united by corruption.
"This mahagatbandhan is divided by region and united by corruption," HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said.
He also said that the Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee yesterday in her personal capacity called on all security forces of country to rebel against the Centre.
"The constitutional mechanism of West Bengal has completely collapsed," he said.
Javadekar further pointed out that even the police officers are in dharna including the DGP, ADG and the CP.
"But under which law," questioned Javadekar.
He also said, "The CM is trying to save her 'raazdaar' [secret keeper]...the man who knows too much."
Mamata Banerjee has garnered support from a number of Opposition leaders who announced that they were with Banerjee in the war on CBI's actions in the state.
Mamata Banerjee is on a dharna since Sunday evening in protest over the CBI's attempt to question the Kolkata Police chief in connection with chit fund scams.
Javadekar said that it was a murder of democracy and added, "We want to ask Mamata Banerjee why is she staging dharna, who does she want to shield? Police Commissioner or herself?"
He also said that the Supreme Court had ordered the CBI to investigate the whole scam, not the central government.
"When PM Modi was CM, Congress tried to send him to jail under a conspiracy. Even then, the prime minister did not stop the CBI. Mamata doesn't have the same strength," Javadekar said.
He also said that it was a state of emergency as "she [Mamata Banerjee] did not give permission for BJP's rath yatra, for chopper landings, or holding up rallies".
He also said that Mamata Banerjee got the man who erected the stage for Amit Shah's rally and the one who gave land for it arrested.
"Whatever is happening in Kolkata is one of a kind. Never before was an investigating team taken into custody by police," Prakash Javadekar said.
BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chauhan on Monday said, "The BJP is not being allowed to rally in West Bengal. BJP workers are being assassinated. It can never be justified. So the Mamata Banerjee's government is nervous."
He also said, "Why is Mamata Banerjee afraid of being scrutinised? To prevent the investigation is a direct violation to the Supreme Court order."
He called the situation in Kolkata an unprecedented crisis, and said that Mamata Banerjee was making a mockery of the Constitution.
