Wellington, Feb 6 (IANS): New Zealand defeated India by 23 runs in the first women's Twenty20 International here on Wednesday.

Chasing a target of 160 runs, the Indians were dismissed for 136 in 19.1 overs.

The hosts have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
