Silverman urges women to speak up against 'uncomfortable' mammogram experience

Los Angeles, Feb 8 (IANS): Actress Sarah Silverman is urging women to speak up against uncomfortable mammogram experiences, following an incident where a doctor used his bare hands to examine her.

The "Ralph Breaks the Internet" star underwent a mammogram, X-ray and ultrasound on Wednesday, saying the appointment quickly went downhill because the radiologist did not put on gloves before examining her.

"He opened my gown and put gel on my breasts and smeared it around with his bare hands. Then he started talking to me about my chest X-ray... and was pontificating with my b**bs just out and covered in gel and cold and finally I said, 'Hey, can we either talk about this when I'm dressed or while your doing the ultrasound?'

"I'm not comfortable with my breasts out just shooting the s**t with you," the actress said in a statement

Silverman insists she doesn't believe the radiologist was inappropriate, but feels he should have been more sensitive.
