Mangaluru, Feb 15: The College day & Founder’s Day of Srinivas University & Srinivas Group of Colleges was held on February 14.

Prof Karnam Uma Maheshwar Rao, director, National Institute of Technology, Surathkal was the chief guest of the programme. In his inaugural address, he said teachers contribute to the nation building, and it is a privilege to be a student, and as a student mistakes will be taken care of, but it will not be once they become professionals, addressing the doctors he said, doctors are responsible for the society, and addressing the engineering students he said, employability depends upon their knowledge and skills, students need to acquire complete knowledge and skills to serve the country. He congratulated the student and staff achievers.

Dr A Srinivas Rao, pro-chancellor of Srinivas University and vice-president of the Srinivas Group of Colleges, presided over the function and in his presidential remarks, called upon the students to have the required aptitude, skills based the industrial requirements. He said that the students of Srinivas Group of Colleges are skilled and knowledgeable to face the corporate world. He also congratulated the people who received A Shama Rao memorial awards, staff and student achievers for their success.

A Shama Rao memorial award for the outstanding contribution of individual and community development in the field of education, agriculture, culture and social service was given to Prof Lakshminarayana Samaga.

A Shama Rao memorial outstanding teacher award of the year was given to Dr M Siddaraju.

Staff members, who had completed their PhD, published/ presented papers in international journals and conferences were recognized on the occasion. More than 200 students who have excelled in academics and extra-curricular activities were awarded during the function. Also students who studied in Srinivas Group of Colleges and secured ranks in University Exams were felicitated with A Shama Rao Foundation Gold medals. The annual report of Srinivas University and Srinivas Group of colleges were release on the occasion.

Dr P Sreeramana Aithal, vice-chancellor, Srinivas University welcomed the gathering. Dr Anil Kumar, Registrar, Srinivas University paid homage to the founder A Shama Rao.
