Mangaluru, Feb 15: Prof Prakash P Karat 'Endowment Lecture' - 2019 will be held on Saturday February 16 at 2.30 pm at Sanidhya Hall, St Aloysius College (autonomous) here.

Prof P S Anil Kumar, professor, department of Physics, Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru will deliver the lecture on the topic 'Introduction to Spintronics'. Dr Chandrashekhar Shetty, former registrar (evaluation) Mangalore University, will preside over the function. Fr Pradeep Anthony SJ, director of Arruppe Block, St Aloysius College (autonomous) and Prof. Prakash P Karat, professor, department of Post Graduate Studies in Physics, St Aloysius College (autonomous) will be guests of honour.

Prof Prakash P Karat began his career as lecturer in Physics at St Philomena College, Puttur. He served the college from July 1967 to October 1982. He pursued research at Raman Research Institute Bengaluru under the scholarly and erudite guidance of Prof S Chandrasekhar FRS. Prof Karat joined Mangalore University in 1982 and served as professor of Physics and later, as the registrar (evaluation) for a year. He has successfully guided four PhD and six MPhil students and retired from service in 2004. He is currently serving the Post Graduate Department of Physics at St Aloysius College (autonomous) as visiting professor.

The endowment lecture is organised by his students and admirers in association with the department of Physics, St Aloysius College (autonomous). The invite to attend the lecture is open to all.
