Chander Mohan's (Chand Mohammad) Second Wife Attempts Suicide

TNN

Chandigarh, Jan 29: Barely two months after Haryana politician Bhajan Lal’s son Chander Mohan converted to Islam to marry Fiza, the latter tried to commit suicide in Chandigarh on Thursday. Fiza consumed 50 sleeping pills and has been admitted to a hospital here.

Chander Mohan was already married when he did a disappearing act and resurfaced a Muslim convert, Chand Mohammad two months ago, married to Anuradha Bali, now called Fiza.

On Wednesday, Fiza screamed he had been abducted by his enemies. ‘‘He has been kidnapped,’’ she told reporters.

But all that had happened was probably a tiff between Chand and the woman for whom he left his wife and the larger Bhajan Lal family. The missing leader was traced to New Delhi’s Greater Kailash later in the day and told police he walked out of his Sector-48 Chandigarh home after a tiff. ‘‘I am not a kid who can be kidnapped,’’ he told reporters.

‘‘His brother Kuldeep Bishnoi is behind the crime. He sent criminals who have abducted my husband after beating him badly,’’ a hysterical Fiza said. Bishnoi denied the allegation. The Haryana Janhit Congress (BL) leader said in Ambala, ‘‘I have nothing to do with him. We have already snapped all ties with him. If he was kidnapped, it is the responsibility of the state government to trace him.”
