7 die of gas poisoning in China


Beijing, Feb 16 (IANS): Seven persons died due to gas poisoning at a paper mill in China's Guangdong province, authorities said on Saturday.

The incident happened on Friday night at Shuangzhou Paper Co. Ltd, Xinhua news agency reported.

Nine workers were trapped inside a sewage adjusting tank of the factory at the time. Firefighters pulled them out but seven died during treatment. Two are recovering.

The cause of fire is being investigated.
