HC grants bail on condition of planting 50 saplings

New Delhi, Feb 18 (IANS): The Delhi High Court has granted anticipatory bail to a man facing prosecution in a molestation case on the condition that he will plant 50 saplings in a government school.

Noting that the accused has joined the investigation into the case, Justice Sunil Gaur in his order, delivered last week, directed the principal of a school in Chander Nagar in East Delhi to ensure that 25 neem and 25 peepal saplings were planted at its premises.

The court also asked the investigating officer to file a compliance report in this regard.

The court has asked the accused to furnish a bail bond of Rs 15,000 with one local surety of like amount.

However, if the accused misuses the concession of pre-arrest bail or tampers with evidence, the state is at liberty to get the order revoked, it said.

The accused had been booked on charges of molestation, wrongful restraint and mischief at the Connaught Place Police Station last year.
