Chandigarh, Feb 22 (IANS): The 47th Rose Festival began at the Rose Garden here on Friday, after paying homage to CRPF troopers who were killed in the Pulwama terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on February 14.
The three-day festival, which attracts thousands of people from the region, was inaugurated by Chandigarh Member of Parliament (MP) Kirron Kher.
The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation dedicated the Rose Festival to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers dying in the terror attack.
A neatly arranged enclosure right in front of the entry gate has been installed that displays the photographs of 40 CRPF jawans decorated with white wreaths.
During the festival, patriotic programmes will pay tributes to the martyrs at the Rose Garden, a spokesman of the municipal corporation said.
Kher said that the corporation has taken a good initiative to pay respects and homage to the slain troopers.
