Jammu-Srinagar highway partially restored

Jammu, Feb 23 (IANS): The Jammu-Srinagar highway was partially restored for one-way traffic on Saturday, after remaining closed for three consecutive days due to snowfall and landslides.

"All stranded traffic was cleared on Friday night. One-way traffic will be allowed to move on the highway from Jammu to Srinagar today," a traffic department official said.

Landslides in the Ramsoo-Ramban stretch have become a major challenge for the authorities as frequent blockade of the 300 km-long highway is caused by them.

Scores of trucks carrying essential supplies have crossed the Jawahar Tunnel to reach the landlocked Kashmir Valley.
