Gunfight in Kulgam district


Srinagar, Feb 24 (IANS): Security forces and militants traded gunfire on Sunday in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district.

Police sources said the security forces started a cordon and search operation in Turigam village after receiving information about the presence of militants there.

"As the security forces tightened the cordon, the militants fired at them, triggering an encounter which is going on," a police officer said.
