Indian, Pakistani troops clash on LoC

Jammu, Feb 24 (IANS): Indian and Pakistani troops clashed on Sunday on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district using mortars and automatic weapons.

Defence Ministry spokesman Lt Colonel Devender Anand said that the Pakistanis started the unprovoked violation of the 2003 bilateral ceasefire in Nowshera sector at about 5.15 p.m.

"The Indian Army retaliated strongly and effectively," an official said.

The two armies have been trading fire with each other intermittently on the LoC in Poonch and Rajouri districts for the last four days.
