Trump, Kim meet for second summit

Hanoi, Feb 27 (IANS): US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un began their second summit here on Wednesday with a brief handshake, eight months after their historic first meeting in Singapore.

Trump and Kim were expected to meet for a brief one-on-one before attending a dinner with their respective aides at the start of a two-day summit to discuss the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula, CNN reported.

The US leader said he looked forward to a "very successful" summit, while Kim said "we have been able to overcome all the obstacles and here we are today".

"It's an honour to be with Chairman Kim, it's an honour to be together in Vietnam. It's great to be with you, we had a very successful first summit," Trump said as the two leaders clasped hands and posed while smiling in front of the media.

"Some people wanted to see it go quicker, but I was very happy with how we are doing," Trump said, adding that their relationship was "really a good one".
