One held for Jasola murder

New Delhi, Feb 27 (IANS): A 28-year-old man was arrested for killing his relative due to personal animosity in Delhi's Jasola last week, a police officer said on Wednesday.

Tauffiq was arrested on Tuesday from his house in Palwal, Haryana, with the help of CCTV footage from a liquor shop.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Chinmoy Biswal said Tauffiq admitted to killing Rashid (35), his relative, in early hours of February 20.

A mechanical engineering diploma holder, Tauffiq was working as a supervisor with a private company for the last few months.

According to Biswal, "The two had an altercation at a family function a few months ago during which Rashid slapped Tauffiq in the presence of guests. Tauffiq felt insulted and hatched a plan to eliminate him."

"He bought a country-made pistol and on February 20 went to Rashid's house in Jasola, but did not find him there. He, however, met Rashid outside a liquor shop and they consumed liquor sitting in the latter's car at an isolated spot, near Omaxe Square Mall. When Tauffiq made sure that Rashid was inebriated, he shot him and escaped from the spot," Biswal said.
