Khattar denies early Haryana Assembly polls

Chandigarh, Feb 27 (IANS): Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here on Wednesday reiterated that the Assembly elections in the state would be as per the schedule.

Khattar, speaking on the concluding day of Budget Session of the Assembly, said the next session of the House would be in August.

"An atmosphere has developed in the country that the Lok Sabha and the Vidhan Sabha elections should be held simultaneously. But it is Parliament and the central government that has to take the final call," Khattar said.

It's being speculated the BJP government in Haryana could opt for early Assembly polls, coinciding with the Lok Sabha elections.

The Assembly elections in Haryana is scheduled in October. The term of the present Assembly ends on November 2, 2019.
