Modi must suspend political activity till pilot returns: Omar Abdullah

Srinagar, Feb 27 (IANS): Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi must suspend all political activities till India gets back Wing Commander Varthaman Abhinandan who is in Pakistan's custody.

Abdullah said on Twitter: "PM Modi must suspend his political activities until Abhinandan is returned safely. It can't be business as usual with him cross-crossing the country at tax payer's expense making political speeches while our pilot is a Pakistani captive."

The National Conference leader hoped that Pakistan will treat the captured pilot as they would want India to do if their men in uniform had been in India's captivity.

"In the meantime Pakistan, please treat him as you would have us treat one of your men in uniform should he be unfortunate enough to be captured on this side of the border."
