Ghaziabad traders shut shops to protest killing of businessman

Ghaziabad, Feb 28 (IANS): Markets in Ghaziabad remained closed on Thursday in protest against killing of a trader by robbers on Wednesday night.

Police said three robbers armed with pistols confronted Bijendra Garg, the trader, when he reached near his home in the Nusratpura area.

He was carrying the money earned through sale of edible oil and was accompanied by two aides from the shop. As he reached near his home, the robbers appeared from a narrow lane, stopped him and fired in the air.

They snatched the bag containing the cash, shot dead the trader and escaped.

As the news spread, traders across the city decided to close the market. On Thursday morning, traders staged a noisy protest urging the police to take immediate action against the killers.
