Gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir


Srinagar, Mar 1 (IANS): A gunfight started on Friday between the security forces and holed up militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district, officials said.

Police said following information about the presence of militants, security forces surrounded Babagund village in Langate area on late Thursday evening.

"The hiding militants opened fire at the security forces triggering an encounter which is on," a police officer said.

Reports from the area said two to three militants could be hiding in the village.
