Man shot in Manipur hospital


Imphal, March 1 (IANS): A visitor to a government hospital here opened fire injuring one person, the Manipur Assembly was told on Friday. The gunman was arrested.

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh told the Manipur Assembly that the incident happened at around 10 p.m. at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) on Thursday. The accused was identified as T. Chinglemba.

According to police, the accused entered the RIMS' Gynae Ward beyond the visiting hours despite objections from the guard.

While coming out, he whipped out a gun and fired at the security guard which hit another man.

The accused escaped but was nabbed within hours, police said.
