Muscat, Feb 9: The executive committee of the Mangalorean Catholic Center of the Parish (MCCP – Sts Peter and Paul Church, Ruwi, Sultanate of Oman) is all set to present one of the most enthralling and entertaining Mangalorean Day functions in recent times for MCCP members and children on Friday February 13 at Muscat Sports Club Grounds, Al Wadi Al Kabir. The day-long function has been formulated with different traditional presentations and entertaining fun games so that the participants will have loads of excitement and non-stop enjoyment.
As announced by the officials of MCCP, the registration for the function will commence at 10.00 am. The registered members of MCCP and their associated members can take part in this event. There will be exciting prizes for early registration.
Fr Albert D’ Silva, OFM Cap, the Mangalorean priest of Sts Peter and Paul Church, Ruwi will be the guest of honour.
There are many innovative and traditional ideas put together by the MCCP team leading the Mangalorean Day function. The day will commence with a cultural programme of musical entertainment presented by some of the talented singers of the community. An exhibition of traditional handicrafts will be an added attraction. Pili Vesha, traditional Tiger dance of Dasara season of coastal Karnataka will certainly bring a happy mood into the audience and participants. Jasmine flowers are specially flown from coastal Karnataka for this function.
Participants are requested to wear traditional attire and there are attractive prizes for “Best Dressed Participants and Families”. There are special prizes for youth participants and couples.
Clarence Pinto, president, Samuel D Silva, main coordinator for finance and sports committee, Donald Fernandes and Dolly Sequeira, the sports secretaries are leading the organizing team with Nirmala Goveas, Victoria Soares, Hazel Dias, Sunil Mascarenhas, Hilda Fernandes, Arun D’ Souza, Alex Aranha and Hubert D’ Souza extending their support. Suraj Rebello, Dolly Gomes, Adrian Saldhana and Cyprian Misquith will lead the fun sports. There are many sub-committee members working for the success of the function.
