Los Angeles, Feb 9: Album ‘Global Drum Project’, featuring Mickey Hart, Sikiru Adepoju, Giovanni Hidalgo (Shout! Factory) and Indian tabla maestro Zakir Hussain has won the Grammy award for best contemporary world music album.

This is not the first Grammy that the tabla maestro has pocketed. In 1992, Planet Drum, an album co-created and produced by Zakir and Mickey Hart, was awarded the first-ever Grammy for best world music album.

However, two other Indians -- guitarist Debashish Bhattacharya and classical vocalist Lakshmi Shankar, lost out in the 'Best Traditional World Music' category.
