BJP takes on Digvijaya Singh for seeking proof of IAF strike

Bhopal, Mar 3 (IANS): Senior Congress leader Divijaya Singh's demand to release evidences of IAF air strike drew a sharp criticism from the opposition parties in Madhya Pradesh, especially from the Bharatiya Janata Party, here on Sunday.

The former MP Chief Minister on Saturday had demanded that India release the evidences of air strike in Pakistan as the USA did after killing Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden.

His statement has attracted a sharp reaction from political fraternity in Madhya Pradesh.

"Its unfortunate. Singh is not accepting the valour of the army. Shame on him," said former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan. Senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister Babulal Gaur also raised questions over Digvijaya's statement.

Reacting to BJP's criticism, Digvijaya's son and state Minister Jaivardhan Singh said: "Manipulating statements is an old habit of the BJP." "Digvijaya had also said Pakistan should take an action against Masood Azhar and Hafiz Saeed. What's wrong in that," he said.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) had carried out an air strike in Pakistan's Balakot on February 26 in response to the February 14 terror attack in J&K's Pulwama in which 40 Central Reserve Police Force troopers were killed.
