Puttur: Quarrel between two relatives ends in murder

Puttur, Mar 4: Two persons, who were related to each other, had come to Uppinangady to   watch Kambala which was held there on Sunday 3. On some issue, the two fought with each other and one among them inserted sharp splinter of a broken soda bottle into the other, which resulted in heavy bleeding and death of the other person.

The incident happened at Uppinangady on Sunday March 3. Yashwant K (19),elder son of Monappa Nalike from Kallapu house in Karaya village had come to Uppinangady along with his relatives to watch Vijaya-Vikrama Jodukare Kambala there. On some issue, the two got involved with verbal friction. During this verbal altercation, Yashwant's relative, identified as Anand, son of Rukmaya Nalike from Kadabettu who was with Yashwant, suddenly stabbed Yashwant with a broken soda bottle. Yashwant was immediately rushed to hospital but he bled to death before reaching the hospital.

Anand and Yashwant used to visit Bhoota Kolas together. It is not clear what transpired between them and whether the issue was so serious to kill a relative having close bond with the murderer.

After the incident, Anand went missing. Uppinangady police, who have registered a case, are searching for him. Police circle inspector, Nagesh Kadri, and Uppinangady police sub-inspector, Nandakumar, have taken up probe.
