Cold wave continues in Himachal

Shimla, Mar 4 (IANS): A cold wave continued to grip Himachal Pradesh on Monday, the Met Office said, adding the chill will remain this week as more snow was expected

"The minimum temperature dropped by two to three degrees in the state after last week's snowfall and widespread rain. There are chances of rain and snowfall on Wednesday as western disturbances (the weather systems that cause precipitation) are active over the region," a Met official told IANS.

Last week, Manali Kufri, Fagu and Narkanda received snow, while rains lashed Shimla.

The minimum temperature in Shimla was 3.5 degrees Celsius on Monday, while it was 0.4 degree in Manali, which is still covered in snow.

The picturesque tourist resort of Kalpa, some 250 km from here, received snow in the past 24 hours and recorded a low of 2.6 degrees Celsius, while it was 3.8 degrees Celsius in Dharamsala.
