Bantwal, Mar 6: Religious programmes such as Punarprathiste, Astabandha, new flag installation, Brahmakalashabhisheka have begun in Polali Rajarajeshwari Temple as part of the Brahmakalashotsava that is being held after 15 years.

A Horekanike procession of more than 600 vehicles from all the villages in the taluk was held on the evening of Tuesday, March 5 from the grounds near Narayanaguru Circle to the temple. 

The procession started from the Narayanaguru Circle after the religious rituals. Both sides of the road were decorated, which increased the beauty of the procession.

Manila Mohandas Paramahamsa Swamiji of Sridhama, Brahmakalashotsava committee president, MLA Rajesh Naik , renovation committee president B Ramanath Rai, veteran author and Brahmakalashotsava committee honourary president Dr Arya Laminarayana Alva, former MLA K Padmanabha Kothari, Tulu Sahitya Academy president A C Bhandary and others were present.

People were beating the drums and raising slogans in praise of Goddess Sri Rajarajeshwari in open vehicles. They were accompanied by dancing dolls.

Catholics offer Horekanike, display communal harmony

Modankap Infant Jesus church parishioners joined the procession and offered their Horekanike in a vehicle. This gesture by the Catholics living in the vicinity of the temple and the taluk showed the excellent communal harmony that exists among people belonging to different religions in the taluk. The atmosphere from Modankap to Polali was festive.
