Nigerian man with heroin worth Rs 16 cr held in Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 7 (IANS): The Delhi Police have arrested a Nigerian national who was a key member of an international narcotics drug cartel with heroin valued at Rs 16 crore in the international market, an official said on Thursday.

Okaya Ifeanyi, 34, was arrested by a team of the Special Cell on Tuesday night with four kilogram of heroin while he was coming from the Gurugram-Dabri main road towards Vardhaman Plaza in Dwarka, said P.S. Kushwah, Deputy Commissioner of Police.

"During interrogation, it was found that Ifeanyi used to receive heroin from his friend residing in West Delhi and supply it across Delhi and overseas countries including England, France, Canada, South Africa and others. Heroin was procured from Afghanistan in India," Kushwah said.

"Ifeanyi came to India in 2013 on tourist visa. He continued to stay in Mumbai despite expiry of his visa and later came in contact with a fellow Nigerian in Janakpuri and started supplying drugs to earn easy money," the officer added.
