Vikram Usendi named Chhattisgarh BJP chief

New Delhi, Mar 8 (IANS): The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday appointed Vikram Usendi as the chief of the party's Chhattisgarh unit.

A three-time MLA and former Education Minister of Chhattisgarh, Usendi was elected to the Lok Sabha from Kanker in 2014.

He will replace Dharamlal Koushik, who was appointed Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly after the BJP was routed in the assembly elections held in November last year.

Usendi is a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Environment and Forests.
