Delhi government approves NSUT's expansion

New Delhi, Mar 8 (IANS): The Delhi government on Friday approved a proposal for smart classrooms at the Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT) in Dwarka, which will accommodate an additional 1500 students.

The proposal, made by the Directorate of Training & Technical Education (DTTE), was approved by the Expenditure Finance Committee headed by Finance Minister Manish Sisodia, and will cost an estimated Rs 26.79 crore.

The Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology became Netaji Subhas University of Technology on September 26, 2018, leading to an increase in the number of students on the campus.

The committee also approved the proposal for six additional buildings on the university campus, which will cost an estimated Rs 202.12 crore. The expansion is designed to accommodate the expected increase in student strength, which, the government said, is likely to cross 5,000 in the upcoming session.

The project has received approval from the Delhi Urban Art Commission, while approvals from the DDA, and the departments of fire, environment and forest are being pursued simultaneously, the government said.
