Gujarat Congress MLA gets cabinet berth hours after joining BJP

Gandhinagar, Mar 9 (IANS): Jawahar Chavda, the Congress MLA who quit the grand old party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, was made a cabinet minister on Saturday.

Two other ministers were also inducted into the government.

Chavda, the MLA from Manavadar assembly seat, quit the Congress and joined the BJP late on Friday.

As a reward, Chavda has been given the rank of a cabinet minister in the BJP government, which has been ruling Gujarat for over two decades.

Chavda has been winning on the Congress seat in the constituency for the last five terms straight.

Along with Chavda, two others were inducted as ministers of state in the government -- Yogesh Bhai Narayan Bhai Patel and Dharmendrasinh Meroobha Jadeja.

All were inducted during a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, where they took the oath in the presence of Governor O.P. Kohli

"They can assume the charges as and when they like. We have been welcoming all those leaders who are influenced by the vision of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi and have opted to join the BJP," said Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel.

The ministers were yet to be assigned any portfolios, but it is being speculated that the decision will follow soon.

The induction of Chavda into the cabinet has not only shaken the Congress, but it has also started a wave of dissent in the BJP as well.

Many senior BJP members were disgruntled. Earlier, Kunwarji Bawalia, an MLA from Jasdan, was also given a cabinet rank in the government, within hours of defecting from the Congress.

The BJP doesn't respect the voter's mandate. In Arunchal Pradesh entire Congress party of the ruling BJP defected ruling the state without any ballots. The same situation in Goa, Manipur, Karnataka and now in Gujrat.
The 'operation Kamala' became a curse for the Indian democracy which one of the biggest source of corruption in the heart of democracy.
One of the main reason for this trend is weak 'Anti Defection Law'. Taking 2014 as the base, the cost of holding one election works out to Rs 10 crores for the assembly constituency.
Our poor India, rich in politicians and looted by crony capitalist who escapes India with bank loot has no money for our own Indian soldiers protecting our nation.
The nation can spend Rs 10 crores for re-election but can't provide armor vechile for a military person for transport. Neither government has money to airlift soldiers in need but has money to sponsor movies.
The country which we live today can't provide jobs for 10 lakh Engineers passing each year but has enough money sponsor 'operation Kamala'.
Is our own fate for electing wrong leaders?
We the Indian's need amendment in the People's Representative Act 1951 to amended written by the common people of this nation who can protect the interest of this nation.
We the nation need tough 'Anti Defection Law' which bars elected candidate for the lifetime and his immediate members regardless of any party.
We need a government which spends Rs10 crores to create employment.
