New Delhi, Mar 10 (IT): As Rajnath Singh dropped a bombshell on Saturday by claiming that India had conducted three airstrikes across the border, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi poked fun at the minister and asked if the third time was when PM Narendra Modi "went uninvited" to Nawaz Sharif's house for a wedding.
Owaisi was reacting to Home Minister Rajnath Singh's startling claim at an election rally in Karnataka. Singh said, "In the past five years, we have crossed the border thrice and our men have successfully conducted air strikes. I will give you information about two of those incidents, but not the third."
To this, Owaisi said in a tweet, "Sir @rajnathsingh is it when @PMOIndia went uninvited to Nawaz Sharif house for a wedding ceremony? Just asking or please ..... (sic)"
Speaking about the three airstrikes, Rajnath Singh then went on to cite the 2016 surgical strikes and the latest Balakot airstrike in Pakistan.
"One time you saw in Uri, terrorists who came from Pakistan killed 17 of our soldiers, who were sleeping at night in a cowardly attack. After that, our soldiers also decided. Whatever happened after that you too know it very well, I need not tell... now you are seeing.
"First attack happened. second one was air strike... happened after Pulwama attack. I won't give you information about the third one," Singh said without elaborating.
While Rajnath refrained from talking about the third strike, Owaisi asked if it was when PM Modi landed up at Sharif's home in 2015.
In 2015, PM Modi took a detour from his Afghanistan trip and landed in Lahore to meet then Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a surprise visit. This was the first time an Indian PM had landed in Pakistan in 10 years.
PM Modi then attended a ceremony at the Sharif residence and wished the prime minister on his birthday, thus creating a massive flutter back home.
