Karvan-e-Aman bus service remains suspended

Srinagar, Mar 11 (IANS): Across the line of control (LoC) bus service, known as the 'Karvan-e-Aman' (Caravan of Peace), between India and Pakistan has remained suspended for the second consecutive week on Monday due to tension at the border.

The weekly bus service carries members of divided families living on the two sides of the LoC and was started on April 7, 2005.

Sources said the service was suspended for the second week on Monday because of heightened tensions on the LoC in the Uri sector of the Baramulla district.

The bus passes through the Uri border town to carry passengers to the Kaman Post on the LoC where passengers of the two sides walk over the 'Aman Setu' to board buses waiting on the two sides.
