One held for raping Kenyan woman in Uttarakhand


Dehradun, March 11 (IANS); The Uttarakhand Police have arrested a man for allegedly raping a Kenyan woman on the pretext of showing waterfall near Rishikesh, the police said on Monday.

Himanshu Thapliyal (31) was arrested after a day-long manhunt from Rishikesh, the police said.

In her compliant to police on Sunday, the woman had alleged that a local youth raped her on the pretext of showing a waterfall near Rishikesh. The complaint was lodged at Muni Ki Reti police station, near Rishikesh, in the Tehri district.

"Following the complaint, police had launched a probe. When we scanned CCTV camera footage, we got clue about the accused," a police official said.
