Karkala, Mar 12: NMAMIT being the regional (Mangaluru) partner of ICT Academy, conducted Youth Talk pre-finale on March 8 and 9.
Around 100 students from various colleges of south and north Karnataka participated in this competition.
Dr Balasubramani R, SPoC-ICT Academy welcomed the gathering and briefed about various events conducted at NMAMIT with the support from ICT Academy. He also informed that NMAM Institute of Technology was the first institute to sign MoU with ICT Academy for the Institutional Membership in Karnataka.
Vishnu Prasad, state head, ICT Academy-Karnataka gave an overview of Youth Talk and explained the importance of communication skills among youth.
Dr Niranjan N Chiplunkar, principal, NMAMIT, in his presidential address gave tips and techniques to the participants to become effective speakers.
Devidas, ISE staff coordinator-ICT Academy proposed the vote of thanks.
Dr BHV Pai, joint director, Manipal Institute of Technology Manipal – Dr Alwyn Pais, head - CSE, NITK Surathkal – Dr Veena Kumari, principal, Dr NSAM First Grade College Nitte – Dr Shiv Kumar, head - CSE, Srinivas Institute of Technology Mangaluru – Sangeetha Ferrao, head - placements, St Joseph Engineering College Mangaluru were the academic jury members for the first day namely March 8.
Out of 100 participants, 15 students were shortlisted for the second day which was March 9.
Harish Neermarga, CEO, Accolade Tech Solutions Mangaluru – Vidya Shenoy, head - recruitment, The Manipal Group Manipal – Orwin Noronha, serial innovator cum manager, Leowin Solutions Pvt Ltd, Mangaluru – Praveen Udupa, founder and technical director, A1 Logics Mangaluru – Ronald Mascarenhas, senior general manager, Syngene Mangaluru – Saumya, group project manager, Infosys DC Mangaluru – Prabhodha K S, secretary, NIPM Mangaluru chapter were the industry jury members for the second day.
Out of 15 participants, Pawan Bhandarkar, VI Sem CSE, NMAMIT won the first place.
Aditya Shetty Jnana, Psychology student of SDM PG College, Ujire bagged the second place and Trilok Chandra Kumar, VIII sem ECE bagged the third place. All the jury members along with Vishnu Prasad, Dr Balasubramani R and Dr Sreekantha distributed certificates and trophies to the winners. The three winners will participate in the state level final on March 16 at Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Bengaluru.
The winner of the state final will be declared as the Youth Icon of Karnataka by ICT Academy and will get a free educational trip to Singapore.
