Police woman shot dead by terrorists in J&K's Shopian district

Srinagar, March 16 (IANS): Militants killed a woman Special Police Officer (SPO) on Saturday in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district, police said.

The terrorists shot dead Khushboo Jan from close range while she was on her home village, Vehil.

"She suffered critical bullet injuries around 2.40 p.m. and was rushed to a hospital where she succumbed," the police added.

A cordon and search operation was underway to trace the assailants.

 

SPOs are engaged by the state police on fixed monthly remuneration to fight militancy in the state. They are neither imparted training to handle firearms nor are weapons issued to them.

The SPOs represent the lowest rung of police officials below the state constabulary that is adequately trained to handle weapons and are also issued service weapons.

    In the current scenario where Bjp ran away from the responisibility in the valley, it is difficult to judge the identity of the attackers who are exactly they are. Law and order is totally vanished.

    Very strong measures should be taken to end militancy and people of the state should support it. What did in punjab must be done in JK also to end it once for all.

    But the name is big SPO "Special Police Offcer". Special in what then??????. If they are not trained in weapon handling and fight terrorists then why deploy them to fight militancy????????. After 2014 total policy failure. No accountability. No administration . No good governance. Ph.D doctorates are made Pakoda chai street vendors and chaiwala a are ruling the country with BA fail MA pass. All chaos under BJP govt.
