Rahul Gandhi takes aim at 'Main Bhi Chowkidar' campaign

New Delhi, March 17 (IANS): Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Sunday took on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for launching the campaign "Main Bhi Chowkidar" (I am a watchman too) and changing the title of his Twitter account to "Chowkidar Narendra Modi".

"You can keep trying Mr Modi, but the truth cannot be smothered. Every Indian is saying it," Gandhi tweeted with the hashtag "Chowkidar Chor Hai" (watchman is a thief).

"P.S: Do force Sushma ji to add "Chowkidar" to her handle. It's looking very bad," he added.

 

Capitalising the repeated attacks by the Congress in the Rafale jet deal with the slogan - "Chowkidar Chor Hai (watchman is a thief)", the Prime Minister on Saturday launched the "Main Bhi Chowkidar (I am a watchman too)" campaign on social media.

A day later, he changed the title of his Twitter handle to "Chowkidar Narendra Modi". Several Union ministers and senior BJP leaders, including Piyush Goyal, J.P. Nadda, Harsh Vardhan and Dharmendra Pradhan, quickly prefixed "Chowkidar" to their names on their Twitter accounts.

Union ministers Sushma Swaraj and Nirmala Sitharaman added the prefix later in the day.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah changed his Twitter handle to "Chowkidar Amit Shah" and tweeted: "The one who made cleanliness a moral value... he is called Chowkidar #MainBhiChowkidar. Say with all your heart #ChowkidarPhirSe (watchman again)."

Rafael deal looted 40 thousands crores......and how documents stolen if he a chowkidhar......if he is chowkidhar he nirav Modi with 20 thousands crore and choksi with 15 thousands crore run away..... and still their whereabouts not known...... what about adhani ambani ..ramdev...... given free land thousands of poor farmers land without giving proper money to the people ..... ..

    Actually, the prefix is incomplete.

    It should have been 'Chor Chowkidaar'

    When you admit that you are chowkidaar, please keep along the herogiri you did. The 'chori' you did.

    BJP’s social media campaign with the hashtag #MainBhiChowkidar in English means (#Me to Chowkidar) launched to counter #ChowkidarChorHai (Chowkidar is a thief) turned into a nightmare.

    The parody account @niiravmodi, who uses as his display picture the photograph of fugitive diamantaire Nirav Modi in the ostrich hide jacket taken recently in London, responded in mock humility, “Sir loan Maaf karwao sara,” he wrote (Sir, get the entire loan waived).

    @niiravmodi would not let go. He went on to tease the PM again by tweeting, “Modi ji deleted the tweet. Sir main loan Maaf pakka samjhu?” (Sir, do I take it that the loan waiver is confirmed?”)

    The Chowkidhar campaign by the BJP should have the suffix given by Rahul "Chowkidhar Chor with their name". The suffix will add confirm the title to these who are on their way out.
