Minor's body recovered, rapist absconding

Firozabad, Mar 20 (IANS): The police continue to remain clueless about the whereabouts of an alleged rapist who abducted a minor from a village in Sirsaganj area. The eight-year-old victim's blood-stained was found in an agricultural field.

Villagers have accused the police of dragging its feet under pressure.

On a complaint by the father of the victim, an FIR has been registered in the Sirsaganj police station, against Bantu, a DJ, who lured the girl to a desolate place, molested and strangled her.

Superintendent of Police (rural) Rajesh Kumar said the accused named in the FIR would be nabbed soon.

Meanwhile, a few relatives of the alleged rapist were taken into police custody for inquiry. Some local boys had seen Bantu, around 24, with the girl outside the village where a DJ music had been organised for a function.

The girl too had gone there to join the dance programme. But when she did not return till late in the evening, a futile search was launched.

In the complaint, the father of the girl said he and other members of the family spent the whole night looking for the girl. It was only in the morning that her body was found by some villagers.

The forensic team has taken samples. Liquor glasses and water bottle were found on the spot.

Villagers said the victim's family was too poor and members were totally broken.
