Dreaded woman Maoist leader killed in Chhattisgarh


Bhopal, Mar 21 (IANS): A dreaded woman Maoist leader accused in the murder of Madhya Pradesh minister Likhiram Kawre in 1999 has been gunned down in Chhattisgarh, police said.

Jamuna, 45, carried a reward of Rs 18.50 lakh.

She was killed at Bhave in Chhattisgarh in an encounter with the security forces, a police statement said on Wednesday.

Kawre, then Madhya Pradesh Transport Minister, was killed by the Maoists on December 16, 1999.
